FIELD RECORDING

Sound is often an integral part of my interdisciplinary art practice, predominantly using raw field recordings. The sounds collected here reflect my interest in the man-made, the glitchy and broken, worn and unremarkable but ever-present items that take up space in our sonic landscape.

Also interested in Foley and the human voice, I’d say one of my favourite sounds is in William Link and Richard Levinson's TV-utopia: Columbo, when the Porfiry Petrovitch-esque detective walks a short distance along the street from his car. The reconstructed sound of Peter Falk's shoes along concrete dominates the scene, and seems to contain a certain loneliness in the all-consuming determination and focus.

In this column you will find found sound, field recording, and sound specifically created for various art works.
